Many kids love playing computer games and apps but the real genius is in making and coding the programs. San Pasqual students participated in the “Hour of Code” last week. This is a global movement to introduce students to computer coding and career opportunities in computer science. Students spent an hour exploring coding activities on the code.org website. It is wonderful to see kids persevere as they debug a program and then get excited about their success. During their elective, middle school students from Mrs. Buck and Mrs. Priest’s classes helped first graders use Scratch Jr. During science rotations, students explored Tynker, Code Academy, and Code.org activities featuring Moana, Frozen, and Star Wars.
